Battle of the rookies group, who will get the top spot?
Many people are saying, this year is the Rookies Year! It is said that EXO-K and NU’EST are fighting it out for the top spot amongst rookie groups.
Pledis Entertainment first boy group NU’EST who made their debut earlier than EXO-K with “FACE”, consist of 5 member, JR, Aron, Baekho, Minhyun, and Ren. Their debut song captured the attention of many thanks to their lyrics talking about the troubles and violence that students face at school every day.
Meanwhile, EXO of SM debuted with MAMA on April 8th. EXO split into two sub group, EXO-K that concentrate their promtion in Korea, includes members Suho, Kai, Chanyeol, Sehun, Baekhyun and D.O. And EXO-M (Kris, Luhan, Xiumin, Chen, Tao, Lay) promoting in China. The song ‘MAMA’ talks about how society nowadays has become more alienated from world, .
Because both songs focus on social problems and not love, the groups are getting more attention for not only the messages that they’re sending, but also for their strong vocals and dance skill.
NU’EST debut single “FACE” was successfuly on #3 spot Hanteo chart 18-03-2012. EXO-K “MAMA” MV also ranked seventh on youtube worlwide chart, when EXO-M sweep the #1 spot in China’s music chart.
But, there also the other rookies group look like B.A.P, A-JAX who will make their debut in both Korea and Japan, and also BtoB.
We know that B.A.P, who debuted with Warrior, the song also doesn’t talk about love. They just releasing the following MV “POWER” on 27th April.
Meanwhile, BtoB also had a fine debut with “Insane” (though Insane was a bit about love). Still, there will be more rookie groups who make their debut and have impact in one way or another, so it will be interesting to see which male group will shine at the end of the year.
